Pretty girls

I get all weepy and happy when I see weddings with 2 brides in dresses.
Check out all these pretty brides I found on the Rock N Roll Bride blog.

Then go here to Luminaire Images for the most beautiful photos of Sharine and Carolyn.  I want to cry, SLF and I have been together for 9 years this year too.  What a lovely wedding with 2 beautiful brides!

And then here to see a wedding by Q weddings of 2 gorgeous brides who were married at a historic mansion, just like our venue!! Swoon.  Little tears of happiness are rolling down my cheeks.

And ok, last one by Daniel Krieger, it's just so wonderful.

1950s fan (again)

Look at this gorgeous 50s inspired gown in silk, and it's affordable!  Be still my heart.

With affordable gorgeous shoes from Lela Rose for Payless Shoes.  Yes, I said Payless.  Only it's called Unforgettable Moments, no need to call attention to the words payless and wedding in the same sentence.

This one is called Nathalie and would look especially good in red.  This shoe is even better in person, and any Payless will have a dyed satin swatch book you can see to pick out just the right color (and they have lots of good ones!)  I know you are thinking dyed wedding shoes from Payless, have you lost your mind?!  But I swear, it looks expensive and it's not!  Just don't buy the shoes in the store.  Great for trying on but they are made of this weird white fabric that is not dyeable.  You have to order the satin dyed shoes online.  But they do have satin dyed samples in store so you can see the real fabric on the shoe and the dye job...which is good.

Then you'll need a petticoat for just the right poof!  How about a white one with red trim for that all important photo of lifting the dress up to show the petticoats and shoes like this:

So very cute.

When it's all too much

Weddings are stressful.  Joyous and exhilerating for sure, but make no mistake you are going to have some major stressball moments.  Fits of rage, tears most certainly NOT of joy.   When it's all too much, just walk away....yell it out if you have to....and rest assured this too shall pass.  Maybe in 2 minutes and maybe in 2 weeks, but it will.  This I know for sure.   Then when it does, you pop in one of these dvds and LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF.  And all will be well.

I swear on all that is holy these movies made me laugh so hard I fell out of my seat in the theater.  I kid you not.  I do not however push milk, coca-cola or other liquid substances out of my nose when I laugh hard.  Sometimes I snort though.

If you're easily offended (well, then you're probably not reading this blog) but anyway these movies are hysterical and don't have much room for the terribly sensitive among us. Which is a real clue that they are true comedy gold.

Have fun and bring the tissues (for the inevitable snorting and tears of raucous laughter running down your cheeks). Good times.  Scratch that, great times!

Fun with Rose petals

Gorgeous, artful, conversation piece, inexpensive, charming....what more could you want for a wedding?  Ok, ok so it's just rose petals on the grass, but I tell you it's art and it charms the pants right off me, so there you have it folks.  I give you petal monograms as I type, pantless.  Kidding of course, but I am wearing my uniform (pink pajamas).

And for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony space, to keep it simple and beautiful, all you need are white chairs (tie a ribbon across the aisle using the last 2 chairs) and a carpet of rose petals down the aisle.  Doesn't get much better, or more romantic.
See?

You may even want to walk down the aisle barefoot so you can feel their softness on your toes.  Just be sure to put a few flowers in your hair for good measure.  The modern hippie wedding.  Give everyone a dandelion to blow as they  shower you both coming back down the aisle.

Parade of Sweeties

Instead of having just a flower girl and ring bearer, why not have a Parade of Sweeties and then list all of the little darlings by name and how you know them in the program?  I can't take credit for this idea, I read about it at Mariska Hargitay's wedding in Weddings In Style Magazine a couple years ago.

wedding party

But the program part is my idea and pulling together all these precious, so cute you could eat them, little clothes are my idea so I'm running with it!

These little dresses are from Belle of the Ball

These dresses are from Pegeen

Scarlet Darling!

Pegeen has adorable silk ring bearer suits too, but it would take a confident father or a seriously pushy mother in law to actually get a boy into one of them.  So they're a little prissy.  They're adorable!  Come on!  Where's the security in your masculinity?!

Ringbearer Suit

And a little boy in tuxedo tails and a white pique tie (a.k.a. white tie attire minus the cane and tophat) is adorable.

I will just have to wait for another post for the Parade of Sweeties accessories.  Stay tuned for miniature umbrellas made of rose petals, rings nestled in oversized conch shells, the prettiest flower head wreaths, and fairy wands and wings like you won't believe...well, alright, you might believe it, but they are so CUTE I can't stand it.

Artistic wedding ideas

Nothing like a wedding to support a talented community of artists.  Try one (or all) of these ideas which provide perfect entertainment for the cocktail hour!

Commission a wedding watercolorist, like Anne Watkins

From watercolors to sketching by Janine Lecour, it's all so beautiful.

Or how about a silhouette cutter like Karl Johnson?

Or from Deborah O'Connor?  These silhouettes artist will attend your event and cut silhouettes of your guests.  Fun!

Another great idea I discovered at a museum holiday festival this past Christmas...ask a student choir if they are available to perform at your wedding!  See if there is a performing arts school in your area, especially one where kids need to audition to obtain admittance.  The level of talent in these institutions will blow you away!  We sat down to enjoy our eggnog and cheap cookies from the grocery store that passed as "refreshments" during the museum event and our jaws dropped at the sound of the middle school choir when they opened their mouths to sing us a few carols.  Just call the school and get the contact information for the choir director and ask if they are available on your date.  If they can not accept payment for sharing their talents, offer to make a donation to the school or an event they are hosting.  You could also try music departments at local colleges.

Art=lovely and charming wedding, don't you agree?
